Position Summary: The Operating Room Support Specialist is responsible for a variety of tasks that facilitate patient transportation and essential functions within the operating room.

Available Positions: We offer both Full Time and Part Time opportunities (Full Time - Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure thorough cleaning, preparation, and arrangement of sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures.
  • Assist in the transportation of patients between different care units as required.
  • Handle the transport and proper disposal of specimens and cultures.
  • Retrieve blood products from Transfusion Services and manage the return of any unused items.
  • Support staff in the turnover of operating rooms.
  • Operate assigned cleaning machinery and equipment effectively.
  • Perform cleaning duties between surgical cases, including waste removal, linen management, furniture cleaning, bed making, and floor maintenance in a timely manner.
  • Fulfill any additional tasks related to supporting the operating room environment.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in an environmental service role or a related field.

Certifications:

  • Basic Life Skills Certification (BLS) must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities quickly.
  • Strong communication skills; proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is essential.
  • Understanding of instructions and awareness of risks associated with cleaning products.
  • High responsiveness to evolving schedules and priorities throughout the workday.

Collaboration: This role requires effective interaction with patients, their families, and operating room staff.

Physical Requirements: The position involves regular lifting, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 pounds, along with extended periods of standing and frequent walking.

Work Environment: This role is subject to indoor temperature variations and involves working in a high-risk area for exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
