Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain a sterile field for surgical procedures
  • Provide and care for instruments and equipment as needed
  • Assist surgeons and other medical staff during operations
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth surgical procedures

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduation from a school of Surgical Technology preferred
  • BLS certification required prior to end of probationary period
  • Knowledge of care and handling of instruments and equipment
  • Knowledge of sterilization and cleansing procedures
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English
  • One year experience in an acute care hospital setting in the operating room or an instrument care environment preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Heavy physical effort requiring standing, walking, or lifting most of the day
  • Requires ability to speak, hear, and communicate verbal and written materials

Supervision:

Responsible to: Clinical Manager, Operating Room and Director, Surgical Services
