Advanced Hiring Approval: To expedite the filling of vacant positions across various sites within the district for Special Education Support Specialists, we are authorized to offer successful candidates a starting salary that is three steps higher than the standard entry-level salary on the current salary schedule. The new hire salary range will be determined after evaluating the application on file and relevant educational or job-related experience.

Applicants must be prepared to work in person. The specific school site(s) and schedules will be determined based on candidates' preferences and experience. Typical positions range from 6 to 6.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, aligning with the student instructional schedule.
Experience with students with disabilities or in an educational setting is preferred, but we encourage individuals without experience to apply. The district provides comprehensive professional development and training opportunities for all new employees.

TESTING INFORMATION: ALL APPLICANTS MUST TEST OR PROVIDE A COPY OF TRANSCRIPT. Candidates who possess an AA or AS Degree, or have completed two full years of college coursework (48 semester units or 60 quarter units from an accredited institution with a grade of C or better) are exempt from the District's written examination. To be waived from the written examination, applicants must submit their transcripts with their application. If hired, official transcripts will be required.
If the required units are not met, candidates will be contacted to take a written examination covering mathematics and writing skills as outlined in the Class Specification. The examination is conducted in person only.

Application Instructions: Ensure all required documents are attached; incomplete applications may not be considered. If you encounter difficulties attaching documents, please reach out for assistance. Applications will be assessed based on relevant knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience. Candidates who pass the screening and have submitted all required documents will proceed to an oral board interview.

An oral board interview assessing personal qualifications, experience, and training is necessary to establish placement on an eligibility list. Interviews typically last around 20 minutes for one position. If interested in both paraeducator I and II roles, please indicate this on your application for a combined interview. Minimum passing score is 70%. Candidates will be contacted for a hiring interview if they rank in the top three of the current eligibility list.
