  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) preferred
  • ONS Chemo certification preferred

  • No more than 6 days of requested time off (RTO) accepted
  • Previous charge experience highly preferred

Job Description:

  • Care for patients with a variety of medical diagnoses except cardiac, including but not limited to: stroke, COPD, respiratory issues, gastrointestinal bleeding, renal failure (AKI/CKD), oncology, electrolyte imbalance, altered mental status, weakness, and non-operable fractures.
  • Oncology and neutropenic patients care.
  • Work within a patient ratio of 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5-6 at night, subject to variation based on patient acuity and available tech support.
  • Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, general medical-surgical skills including wound care, IV antibiotics administration, drain/tube management, IV starts, and central line management.
  • Experience or willingness to train in insulin and heparin drip administration with support from charge and educator.
  • Rotate between Grant 5 and Grant 6, and potential floating to other medical-surgical patient areas as needed.
  • Work every other weekend with a structured schedule; no on-call or holiday RTO is accepted.
  • Participate in a two-day hospital orientation followed by one shift on the unit.
  • Utilize Cerner for charting, and equipment like Alaris and Pyxis for medication management.
  • Maintain professional attire and adhere to hospital policies regarding dress code and personal appearance.

  • Utilize advanced medical-surgical skills, including trach care and chest tube management.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and hospital policies.

Requirements:

  • Current RN licensure in the state of Maine.
  • Minimum of 1 year of medical-surgical experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred.
  • ONS Chemo certification preferred.
