The Ultrasound Technician II is responsible for the proficient operation of diagnostic imaging equipment to assess complex medical conditions. This includes performing and interpreting diagnostic examinations, particularly in areas such as obstetrics and gynecology, as well as vascular diagnostics.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist physicians in conducting invasive diagnostic procedures, including needle biopsies and guided placements, while providing training to residents.
2. Assess any contraindications, including medication interactions and patient readiness for procedures.
3. Conduct ultrasound procedures under appropriate supervision, adhering to established protocols.
4. Identify sonographic features of normal and abnormal tissues and blood flow.
5. Analyze sonographic findings throughout the examination to ensure comprehensive data collection for physician review.
6. Recognize abnormalities that necessitate real-time evaluation by a physician.
7. Capture images while obtaining Doppler signals, ensuring accurate patient information is recorded for interpretation.
8. Communicate preliminary results to physicians, providing essential information for diagnostic assessments.

Qualifications:
Educational Background:
● Completion of a twelve-month program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or an equivalent certification program is mandatory.
Licensure/Certification:
● Must hold RDMS certification from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in at least one relevant modality (e.g., Abdomen, OBGYN, RVT).
● Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers is required.
Professional Experience:
● A minimum of three years of experience as an Ultrasound Technician is necessary.
● Completion of all departmental-specific competencies within twelve months of hire, along with annual modality competencies and ongoing education to maintain the Ultrasound Technician II designation.
