Position Overview:
UNC Health is looking for a dedicated Cardiac Ultrasound Technician to join our esteemed healthcare team.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Conduct echocardiograms of high diagnostic quality, generating ultrasound images of the heart and its structures utilizing 2D, M-Mode, Doppler, and Strain techniques.
  • Administer ultrasound enhancing agents competently.
  • Provide comprehensive pre-procedure and post-procedure patient care, including patient assessment and emergency cardiac care.
  • Complete structured reports for all examinations promptly.
  • Consult with healthcare providers regarding echocardiogram results.
  • Monitor and document patient information, maintaining report storage and data systems, and prepare reports for video archiving.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Sonography, Radiology, or a related field within three months of hire, or completion of a twelve-month ultrasound program within three months of hire.

Licensure/Certification:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification to be obtained within one year of hire.

Experience:
  • No prior experience necessary.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficient in operating sonographic equipment.
  • Adept at evaluating echocardiograms to acquire essential diagnostic information.
  • Ability to adjust workload to meet patient needs effectively.
  • Demonstrated independent judgment in acquiring optimal echocardiogram information.
  • Familiarity with established departmental procedures.
  • Capability to work efficiently under pressure and in emergency situations.
  • Strong communication skills and sensitivity to patient needs.
  • Ability to interpret information to identify patient care requirements relative to age-specific needs.
