The West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics are seeking a qualified Pediatric Cardiologist for a leadership role at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level. The selected candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, West Virginia.
The successful applicant will become a vital member of our expanding Division of Pediatric Cardiology, providing care to our patient population on the Children's Hospital campus and across the state through a comprehensive pediatric cardiology outreach initiative, which includes outreach clinics equipped with diagnostic testing capabilities. Our team currently includes specialists in fetal cardiology, general pediatric cardiology, advanced imaging, interventional catheterization, noninvasive and invasive electrophysiology, adult congenital heart disease, and preventative cardiology.
Key Responsibilities: The Director will oversee and manage the Heart Failure, Transplant, and VAD program. Responsibilities will be supported by an advanced practice professional. In addition to delivering exceptional patient care, the successful candidate will engage in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows.
Qualifications: Candidates must possess an MD or DO degree or an equivalent foreign qualification and be eligible for a state medical license. Completion of a Pediatric residency program and a Pediatric Cardiology fellowship is required. Ideal candidates will have additional formal training in pediatric heart failure/transplant or substantial experience in VAD and pediatric cardiac transplant. Board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Cardiology is mandatory. All qualifications must be fulfilled by the time of appointment.
WVU Medicine Children's Hospital serves as a tertiary care center for West Virginia and surrounding regions, featuring the state's only cardiothoracic surgery program. We provide surgical interventions for a wide range of congenital heart defects, including complex cases from neonates to adults with congenital heart disease. Our robust ECMO program is supported by dedicated pediatric perfusionists for both cardiac and non-cardiac conditions.
The newly established 150-bed Children's Hospital includes specialized cardiac operating rooms, a hybrid cardiac EP and interventional catheterization lab, and dedicated pediatric cardiac anesthesia personnel. The facility comprises 34 pediatric beds, the only level 4 NICU in the state, a dedicated Cancer Institute, a Pediatric Emergency Department with Rapid Care, and specialized PICU and CICU services. WVU Medicine Children's is recognized as a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with aspirations to achieve Level 1 status, similar to its adult counterpart.
