Position Overview
The Department of Nursing is in search of adjunct clinical faculty to deliver clinical instruction and oversight to students enrolled in the BSN program. Clinical faculty members may also provide mentorship to clinical staff in the Designated Education Units (DEUs) of community partner facilities who are directly involved with BSN students. The ideal candidate will possess enthusiasm, clinical expertise, and the ability to engage students in dynamic learning and assessment, while being dedicated to fostering excellence in teaching and creating an inclusive educational environment.
Successful candidates will have experience in teaching and mentoring graduate students from diverse backgrounds, particularly those traditionally underrepresented in the field of Nursing. Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate Medical-Surgical clinical practicum experiences for BSN students.
- Collaborate with the Lead Faculty and Nurse Manager of the clinical unit to ensure a high-quality clinical practicum experience.
- Deliver up to 16 hours per week of medical-surgical clinical practicum instruction, with availability required from Wednesday to Friday and occasional Saturdays.
- Engage in a 2-hour clinical conference each week with other course faculty.
- Assess and grade required coursework.
- Complete final clinical evaluations for students.
- Keep the Lead Faculty informed of any concerns regarding student progress or clinical performance.
- Mentor clinical staff in the DEU who are working directly with BSN students.
- Act as an ambassador for Gonzaga University School of Nursing and Human Physiology.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
- A minimum of 3 years of current experience in medical-surgical and/or oncology nursing.
- Unencumbered Washington state RN license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science degree in Nursing.
- Prior clinical teaching experience.
Compensation
Hiring Salary: $65 - $70/hour (based on earned degree level).
