Position Overview:

Nightwing is in search of a skilled and driven professional to become a vital member of our Aircraft Architectures & Systems engineering division. This team is dedicated to establishing and refining the frameworks, reference architectures, and standards for Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) Platforms and Systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of the modeling framework, standards, and governance processes for Avionics Reference Architectures.
  • Analyze market channel drivers and requirements to identify unique needs and provide recommendations that enhance reuse.
  • Design, develop, and document architecture requirements through reference architectures, reusable asset definitions, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) modules.
  • Assist in creating Governance Artifacts to manage the usage and modifications of reference architecture requirements/models, guiding the evolution of future reference architectures.
  • Support Channel and Product Line teams in managing changes associated with the application of reference architectures, while regularly gathering feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with program leadership and systems architects to establish and maintain reuse strategies across reference architectures.

Learning Opportunities:

  • Engage with stakeholders across various Avionics Channels & Product Lines, including executive leadership.
  • Develop specialized and general Systems Architecture design and development skills to support the vision of becoming a leading provider of Open Systems and high-integrity aviation solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with at least 7 years of experience, or 14 years of relevant experience in the absence of a degree.
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by applicable regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Lead Systems Engineer or similar role within an Integrated Product Team (IPT).
  • Experience in the design, development, and documentation of avionics requirements in accordance with industry standards.
  • Proficiency in SysML (Cameo) and Product Line Engineering (PLE).
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability.

  • Ability to foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
  • Comfortable navigating a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively across organizational boundaries.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts clearly at all organizational levels.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, less than 10% of the time.
