Collections Specialist

We're seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Collections Specialist to support our collections efforts with a positive attitude and a solution-focused mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Demand Letters: Create and follow up on demand letters to help with collection activities and maintain our processes.
- Collection Agency Coordination: Submit client accounts to outside Collection Agency vendors as directed, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Bankruptcy Processing: Handle bankruptcy notifications and manage cases through resolution with precision and care.
- Case Escalation: Proactively escalate slow-paying or non-paying customer cases, recommending strategies to mitigate financial risks and maintain our fiscal health.
- Mail Management: Oversee the department's daily incoming mail, including returned mail from our monthly statement cycle.
- Documentation and Follow-Up: Maintain thorough documentation of all collection efforts and follow up on delinquent accounts in a timely manner.
- Basic Bookkeeping: Utilize your knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures to support our financial processes.
- Customer Service: Support our quality management programs by providing exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
- Continuous Learning: Pursue internal and external training opportunities to enhance your professional expertise and contribute to our success.
Requirements:
- Excel Skills: Intermediate proficiency in Excel to handle data and reporting tasks effectively.
- Self-Starter: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and seek guidance when needed.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a knack for problem-solving and negotiation.
- Motivated Learner: A strong desire to learn and grow, with a proactive approach to seeking feedback and development opportunities.
- Experience: 3 + years of experience in collections
