Position Purpose:

Our dedicated drivers ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods to our valued customers. You'll navigate established routes, making frequent stops to unload packages and interact with clients. Your role involves operating within a cross-dock model, picking up loaded trucks from nightly deliveries and returning empty trucks to designated locations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Execute assigned routes effectively, adhering to designated timeframes and optimizing delivery efficiency.
  • Unload product from trailers using hand carts or manually, placing items in designated customer storage areas. This may involve transporting goods down ramps, stairs, or docks, regardless of weather conditions.
  • Frequently lift, push, or move products weighing 1-75 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds. You'll also frequently reach up to 72 inches to stack and unstack pallets and hand carts, while constantly bending and twisting during loading and unloading processes.
  • Verify delivery accuracy with customers by obtaining proper signatures. Communicate any discrepancies between invoices and received items to management for authorization. Promptly report instances where customers receive incomplete orders (shorts).
  • Handle customer inquiries and concerns professionally and courteously, ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • Operate company equipment responsibly, adhering to written driver safety rules and performing pre-trip inspections. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and FreshPoint policies and procedures.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Experience:

  • One year of experience in route delivery driving a straight truck, or relevant background in a similar role.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to read and understand English.

Skills:

  • Proficiently operate vehicles in diverse traffic and weather conditions.
  • Maintain productivity levels that meet or exceed company standards.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills and effectively resolve issues.
  • Plan and organize work activities independently with minimal supervision.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of product handling, inventory control techniques, and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments regarding routing, safety protocols, and customer relations.
  • Possess strong communication skills and the ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations (Experience handling money is preferred).
