Job DescriptionAt Powder Mountain, we're seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Snow Safety Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Snow Safety Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our guests and employees on the mountain.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the production of the morning/afternoon Avalanche Hazard and Risk assessment, including primary and secondary terrain, SR 158, DMI, Davenport, and Wolf Canyon.
  • Aid in the maintenance of on-mountain weather stations and snow study plots.
  • Assist in the collection of snow, weather, and avalanche observations.
  • Assist with the management of explosives inventory.
  • Organize snow hazard mitigation efforts for the resort and state highway when needed.
  • Maintain avalanche sign lines and access gates, including SR 158.
  • Collaborate with the Explosive Cache Manager, Build Team, Lead, Assistant, and Apprentice Blasters.
  • Provide emergency first aid response, evacuation, and transportation to guests and employees at Powder Mountain.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, presenting a courteous, efficient, and competent image.
  • Handle emergency situations, violations, or crowd control in a calm and professional manner.
  • Develop a strong understanding of all on-snow related operations, including opening and closing procedures, avalanche mitigation, emergency management, and critical incident response plans.
  • Contribute to the success of individual employees, the department, and the resort as a whole.
  • Utilize effective communication and problem-solving skills to address challenges and ensure a safe working environment.


Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 full-time seasons of previous patrol/snow safety work and mitigation experience.
  • Met qualifications for Assistant Blaster.
  • Valid OEC or higher certification.
  • Holds a current Level 1 Avalanche and Rescue Skills certification and is working towards a Pro 1.
  • Holds a current ATF Possessor Clearance Document.
  • Basic knowledge of terrain and avalanche paths encompassed in the resort and periphery.
  • Clearance for snowmobile diving through Powder Mountain's ski patrol training program.
  • Commitment to the success of individual employees, the department, and the resort as a whole.
  • Effective speaking and listening skills.
  • Proficiency with computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, Information Exchange, email, Airflare, and 1Risk.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and potential days off as needed.
  • Adherence to the pre-discussed schedule to meet operational needs.
  • Assistance in daily meetings if scheduled.
  • Understanding and adherence to all resort policies and procedures.
  • Adequate transportation to the resort for scheduled shifts.
