About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Midwest Vision Partners. As a key member of our operating room staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the organization and daily function of the operating room, adhering to established federal, state, and accreditation standards and facility policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Registered Nurses to provide patient care activities in the operating room and maintain a high standard of safety for patients and staff members.
  • Perform perioperative teaching to patients, assess their understanding of the disease process and need for surgical intervention, and demonstrate appropriate nursing management and intervention in the perioperative period.
  • Review surgeon preference cards, assess equipment and supply needs, prepare the operating room, and ensure the availability of necessary supplies and equipment in proper and safe working order.
  • Provide patient care across the age span, manipulate patient positions appropriately for surgical intervention, and use positioning aids as needed to avoid impaired circulation, respiration, and postoperative pain or discomfort.
  • Perform surgical prep per standard of care and surgeon preference, demonstrate appropriate protocol for safe use and handling of equipment, and assure all equipment is functioning before use.
  • Anticipate the need for equipment and supplies based on surgeon preference, handle and document specimens per policy, and assure emergency equipment and supplies are available at all times.
  • Keep surgical suites clean, tidy, free of soiled equipment and supplies, and properly stocked, and participate in medical records QAPI.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to look at new ideas and work in a changing environment, understand, verbalize, and participate in the quality improvement process, and maintain active professional relationships with physicians and patients by assessing needs and levels of satisfaction with facility services.
Requirements
  • Active Michigan LPN license
  • BLS certified
  • ACLS certification preferred but not required
