Role Overview
The Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) plays a crucial role in supporting the Facility Security Officer (FSO) in the execution and supervision of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP). The AFSO will primarily focus on Personnel Security while also providing assistance in various other security domains as required.

Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the AFSO include, but are not limited to:

  • Processing the onboarding and offboarding of employees.
  • Conducting security training sessions for staff and ensuring training records are accurately maintained.
  • Managing personnel security files.
  • Handling SEAD 3 reporting and other related documentation.
  • Processing travel requests for incoming and outgoing personnel.
  • Coordinating courier letters and liaising with TSA as necessary.
  • Assisting the FSO with incident reporting.
  • Overseeing facility badge management for employees and visitors, including conducting monthly audits.
  • Performing monthly facility inspections.
  • Ensuring compliance with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) protocols.
  • Supporting document control and classified material inventory management.
  • Assisting with security assessments and the development of security procedures.
  • Carrying out additional duties as assigned.

Additional Information
This position requires onsite work in Fairfax, VA, and adheres to a business casual dress code.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 2-3 years of experience in Personnel Security.
  • Strong written, analytical, and verbal communication skills.
  • An active Top-Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility.
  • A team-oriented mindset focused on mission success.
  • A strong sense of ownership, urgency, and motivation.
  • Facility Security Officer (FSO) Certification for Possessing Facilities (expected to obtain within 6 months of hire).
  • Familiarity with government security program management, including DISS, NISS, and NBIS/eAPP systems.
  • Proven ability to take initiative, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines effectively.
