Position Summary

This role involves executing a comprehensive range of culinary services. Responsibilities include preparing meals for all patients, residential clients, staff, and guests while adhering to stringent safety and sanitation standards. The Culinary Specialist is tasked with accurately serving food in accordance with dietary requirements, menus, and standardized recipes. This position also entails maintaining necessary documentation for precise record-keeping.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook meals to retain nutritional value, visual appeal, and taste.
  • Plan and schedule cooking tasks to ensure food is served at the correct temperature and timing.
  • Regularly monitor food preparation and assess the quality of dishes to ensure optimal flavor and presentation.
  • Take corrective measures when food items do not meet established quality benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with the Food Services Supervisor on overall kitchen operations.
  • Review daily menu preparations and ensure adherence to standardized recipes.
  • Complete assigned cleaning duties, including sanitizing food carts, dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment.
  • Document daily meal counts and monitor food storage temperatures, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Assemble meal trays according to specific dietary orders.
  • Ensure timely delivery and retrieval of food carts to the inpatient unit.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and safe food handling practices.
  • Keep food storage areas clean and organized, ensuring proper labeling and storage.
  • Adhere to approved sanitation, safety, and fire regulations at all times.
  • Regularly check kitchen equipment and food production processes to maintain safety and sanitation standards, reporting any maintenance needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Physical Requirements:
  • Position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds with assistance.
Required Skills:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Basic culinary math skills.
  • Reliable communication method.
  • Dependability and consistent attendance are essential.
  • Knowledge and ability to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.
  • Thorough understanding of food preparation principles, including recipe development and modification.
  • Ability to address practical production challenges and evaluate final food products.
  • Familiarity with regular and therapeutic diets.
  • Proficiency in operating, disassembling, and cleaning food service equipment.
  • Knowledge of sanitation regulations and proper food protection procedures.
  • Completion of all mandatory training required for the service unit.
