Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team at Methodist Hospital Texsan. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, providing exceptional patient care, and maintaining a safe and efficient environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the delivery of quality surgical care, coordinating with the circulating perioperative nurse during procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Supply sterile instruments and supplies to the sterile field in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Follow current AORN and regulatory standards, as well as established policies and procedures of the System.
  • Plan for and obtain equipment and supplies needed for assigned procedures, according to physicians' preference and specific patient needs.
  • Prepare equipment and supplies according to manufacturer's recommendations and specifications for use during surgical procedures.
  • Monitor the sterile field during procedures and take appropriate measures to ensure integrity.
  • Initiate corrective action for any break in technique.
  • Prepare medications and solutions for use during procedures under the direction of the Registered Nurse, according to physician's orders.
  • Maintain accountability for instruments, sponges, and sharps throughout the surgical procedure to ensure no foreign objects are retained in the surgical wound.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduated from a surgical technologist program or has 1 year of experience in a hospital setting as a surgical technologist.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board for Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Tech in Surgery, Certified (TS-C) through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
