About the Role

The Design Engineer will work independently to assist engineers, scientists, and/or teams in the development and manufacture of materials, processes, equipment or finished products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and construct prototypes/products from concepts.
  • Contribute original concepts to the development of advanced prototypes and fixtures.
  • Explore and propose creative solutions based on solid rationales and contribute to design and process concepts.
  • Organize, coordinate, and execute building and testing of products per engineering instructions.
  • Create engineering drawings using CAD Software and create complete R&D engineering documentation following established procedures.
  • Maintain equipment, train staff on its operations, and schedule necessary calibration or preventative maintenance.
  • Actively participate in project team meetings.
  • Assist project teams in establishing specifications and quality standards.
  • Use internal resources and qualified external vendors to assist engineering teams to identify and obtain supplies and services.
Requirements
  • Experience in CAD, particularly SolidWorks.
  • Technical Degree and commiserate experience required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong hands-on skills.
  • Experience / knowledge in manual mill and lathe machining.
  • Ability to set-up / conduct product testing and collect data.
  • Support projects interacting with other technicians and engineers.
  • Identify vendors to identify and acquire necessary supplies, materials, equipment and tools for specific projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to learn or have knowledge in Molding, Extrusion and Electronics/Soldering.
  • Contribute ideas into R&D for product design or issue resolutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects independently.
  • Design control/Change Request process experience.
