Position Summary

We are seeking a proactive individual to take on the role of Facilities Porter and Maintenance at a private educational institution. This position offers a friendly atmosphere with the option to work occasional Sundays. Responsibilities will encompass light maintenance tasks, general cleaning duties, event preparations, and various facility-related activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance Duties: Conduct basic repairs and preventive upkeep on equipment, furnishings, and building elements (e.g., painting, drywall patching, bulb replacements, minor plumbing tasks, HVAC filter changes, and routine inspections).
  • Event Preparation & Cleaning: Manage and organize deliveries, relocate furniture, set up and dismantle event functions, and arrange seating as needed.
  • Cleaning Responsibilities: Perform light cleaning and sanitation tasks (e.g., sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, restroom upkeep, waste disposal, debris collection, and floor maintenance).
  • Complete work orders and timesheets through a web-based management system.

Compensation: $21/hr
Work Hours: 40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday to Friday (7:30 am - 4:00 pm), with occasional Sundays as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Basic handyman experience (fundamental maintenance skills).
  • Must successfully pass a TBI criminal background check and E-Verify verification.
  • Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
  • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Willingness to work in both indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks requiring the use of arms, legs, and full body movement (e.g., lifting, balancing, walking, stooping). Must be capable of lifting and pushing up to 75 lbs.

Physical Demands:

This position involves approximately 90% indoor work and 10% outdoor work, including extended periods of standing, walking, lifting, climbing ladders, reaching, and repetitive movements.
