Position Summary

This role is integral to the VBA MDE (Veterans Benefits Administration Medical Disabilities Examinations) initiative. The Vendor coordinates appointments for Veterans at designated clinical locations and assigns practitioners to these facilities as necessary. These facilities are strategically located in regions with a substantial Veteran population, anticipating a high volume of cases.

Essential Competencies

Reliable attendance and punctuality are crucial. The ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, coupled with strong problem-solving skills and self-motivation, is essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal abilities, are expected. Candidates must be adept at following both written and verbal instructions and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Role Specifics/Clinical Assistant Duties

  • Conduct requested X-rays or laboratory tests
  • X-ray results will be processed by a third-party service
  • Laboratory samples will be sent to LabCorp or Quest for analysis
  • Administer EKGs and pulmonary function tests (PFTs)
  • Training for PFTs will be provided by the client to all staff members
  • EKG manuals will be accessible on-site for staff reference
  • Welcome Veterans and escort them to the examination room
  • Notify the client of any no-show appointments
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the facility
  • Collect ancillary results from practitioners
  • Monitor completed and pending examinations to ensure submission within one business day via the Provider Portal

Work Environment

This position operates within a healthcare setting, frequently interacting with patients who may present contagious conditions.

Physical Requirements

The individual in this role may need to move around the office to access files, equipment, and other resources.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience: A college education, high school diploma, or equivalent is required. Completion of a medical assistant training program and possession of Medical Assistant Certification is mandatory. Phlebotomy certification is advantageous. A minimum of one year of experience in an outpatient medical clinic or hospital setting is preferred.
