Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at Ochsner Health. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, which are essential for diagnosing and treating diseases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing, including receiving and preparing specimens, performing laboratory tests and calculations, and evaluating test performance and results.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and monitor equipment used in analytical determinations, and perform quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and precision.
  • Participate in performance improvement opportunities, assist in the collection and analysis of data, and support business development and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Adhere to regulatory compliance guidelines, maintain awareness of accreditation standards, and follow safety guidelines and OIG compliance requirements.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science.
  • Current license in the state of practice (if applicable).
  • ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and good judgment in performing duties and conflict resolution.
Working Conditions

The incumbent works in a patient care area, works in an area where patients enter, works directly with patients, and/or works with specimens that could contain diseases. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases, hazardous medications, or hazardous waste within the environment.
