Position Overview

Awm Math is seeking to appoint a Lead Educator in Mathematical Finance. This role will report directly to the Department Chair and will be responsible for managing and directing the Master of Arts (MA) Program in Mathematics with a focus on the Mathematics of Finance, in collaboration with the Departments of Mathematics and Statistics. This is a full-time position with the possibility of multi-year renewal based on performance evaluations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach two courses annually and coordinate the program's yearly Practitioner Seminar along with associated student projects.
  • Supervise the MA Program staff and serve as the primary contact for students enrolled in the program.
  • Support recruitment initiatives, oversee the admissions process, and assist in job placement for graduates.
  • Act as a liaison with university administration, actively engaging in program and curriculum development for the MA Program.
  • Collaborate with faculty from Mathematics and Statistics to develop and schedule courses, including hiring and assigning instructors as necessary.
  • Conduct regular reviews to identify opportunities for programmatic and curricular enhancements.
  • Establish connections with the finance industry to enhance internship and job opportunities for students.

Teaching and Advising

In addition to teaching and advising within the MA Program, the successful candidate will:

  • Participate actively in curriculum and program development and evaluation.
  • Engage in faculty recruitment and assessment.
  • Contribute to strategies that support students throughout their academic journey and transition to alumni.
  • Provide academic and career advising tailored to the needs and aspirations of MA students.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. is required. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence and show potential for leadership. Established research and teaching credentials in the mathematics of finance are essential, along with practical experience in the field. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are mandatory. Experience collaborating with faculty, students, and administrators is preferred.
