Underground Utility Technician

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Utility Locator to contribute to our mission of connecting communities. In this role, you will work under the guidance of a supervisor to conduct visual inspections of designated construction zones.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately mark identified utilities and complete necessary documentation, including photographic evidence of each locate.
  • Safely and efficiently locate infrastructure established by the company.
  • Engage in all aspects of underground construction, which may include:
    • Loading, driving, and delivering construction materials.
    • Hand digging using shovels and mechanical tools.
    • Installation and maintenance of underground telecommunications cabling.
    • Operating or working near heavy machinery.
    • Maintaining visual and audible contact with crew members and ensuring safe coordination of movements.
  • Perform general construction tasks as directed by the Foreman or Supervisor.
  • Set up safety perimeters using signage and barriers, and at times, manage traffic flow.
Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record. A basic understanding of operating various utility trucks and equipment safely is essential, along with the ability to handle tools and equipment effectively. Strong communication skills are necessary for interacting with customers and team members.

Work Environment:

Regular attendance is crucial for this position, and candidates may be required to work overtime, including weekends, to address emergencies or be on-call as needed.
