About the Role

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a highly skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing high-quality ultrasound examinations and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Position patients and select technical factors and equipment to obtain optimal scan quality, utilizing immobilization techniques as needed.
  • Deliver patient care in accordance with department standards, ensuring continued quality improvement.
  • Document patient records, including supplies and statistics, to ensure adequate inventory and proper patient records.
  • Secure pertinent patient history for each procedure, providing the radiologist with necessary information for film interpretation.
  • Comply with established safety standards to ensure patient and staff well-being.
  • Stay up-to-date with current ultrasound skills and new developments in the field.
  • Provide instruction and assistance to students and fellow technologists as needed.
Requirements
  • ARDMS Registry eligibility, with successful completion within the first year of employment.
  • High degree of technical knowledge to perform specialized U/S studies with minimal assistance from the radiologist.
  • Able to make diagnostic judgments during scanning and present them to the radiologist for interpretation.
  • CPR Certification.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to adjust to flexible hours and respond to emergency call-backs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and view small CRT screens during exams.
  • Ability to perform lifting activities related to patients and operate portable equipment.
  • Exposed to radiation and able to communicate with patients.
  • Ability to work odd hours, including evenings and weekends, and participate in the on-call program.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance and use patient handling equipment when necessary.
