About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Collections Supervisor to join our team at Parkland Corporation. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in driving our debt recovery processes and ensuring the effective management of our credit and receivables.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collections Strategy and Management
    • Develop and implement collections policies and procedures to optimize debt recovery processes.
    • Monitor and analyze risk strategy performance to ensure strategies are delivering optimal profitability and driving positive results on delinquencies and credit losses.
    • Drive continuous improvement to ensure strategies are effective and aligned with business objectives.
  • Collections Strategy Recommendations
    • Make recommendations to senior leadership on collections strategies and implement changes across different business units.
  • Team Management and Productivity
    • Establish and maintain positive business relationships with internal customers and key stakeholders in the collections process.
    • Monitor and manage team productivity to maximize team efficiency and identify possible improvement opportunities.
  • Analysis and Reporting
    • Develop KPIs to drive operational excellence and business value.
    • Utilize analytical, data mining, credit risk management, and leadership skills to optimize collections credit risk/return.
  • Process Improvement
    • Stay up to date with industry best practices.
    • Conduct workflow review, process redesign/reengineering, and deliver solutions for effective and efficient debt recovery processes.
  • Operational and Service Excellence
    • Champion and drive the implementation of programs, policies, initiatives, and tools specific to Shared Services processes.
    • Demonstrate commitment towards continuous improvement initiatives and willingness to challenge existing practices.
    • Establish common streamlined processes and internal controls, as well as drive automation in a cost-effective manner to enable Parkland to achieve synergies.
    • Manage Finance Shared Services activities in line with Service Level Agreements and Service Catalogues.
  • Leadership and Development
    • Demonstrate strong leadership, team resource planning, and performance management, with the ability to lead and promote change with positivity.
    • Create a positive climate where team spirit and coordination are fostered.
    • Develop key performance metrics (KPIs), considering both quantifiable and qualitative factors.
    • Measure team performance against set KPIs.
    • Provide coaching, direction, and leadership support while promoting a client-focused, solution-based delivery results to align with Service Level Agreements.
    • Responsible for the recruitment process, including screening candidates, creating interview guides, conducting candidate interviews, and candidate selection.
    • Provide training to new employees on company policies and procedures.
    • Facilitate the individual team member goal setting process and personal development.

Requirements

  • Completion of Post-Secondary program in business or accounting.
  • 5+ years' experience in a progressive and responsible role in collection of delinquent accounts.
  • 3+ years' experience in collections management, including strategy, analytics, and team management.
  • Data-driven, eager to understand the numbers and provide meaningful insights.
  • Proficiency using Power BI to analyze data and create dashboards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Proficient in PDI.
  • Knowledge of SQL is preferred.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt communication to different audiences.
  • Self-starter who is highly focused and driven to achieve business objectives.
  • Self-organized with the ability to operate independently and prioritize effectively.
  • Experience dealing with credit collection agencies regarding proposals, settlements, and litigation: follow up with agencies to provide additional account details or obtain status updates.
  • Experience processing bankruptcy documentation, completing credit checks/verifications.
