Job Summary:

Charles River Laboratories is seeking an experienced veterinarian to oversee and perform veterinary procedures that support all aspects of veterinary care for the site.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional veterinary services, overseeing daily animal health assessment programs, and performing veterinary rounds as scheduled.

They will also be responsible for providing clinical care and preventive medicine support, performing pre-shipment physical examinations of animals, and overseeing the Environmental Enhancement program for NHPs.

In addition, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring that internal and external reports and other materials are prepared and submitted as required, and for providing responses to internal/external inspections and quality audits of veterinary or animal welfare type content.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily animal health assessment program
  • Perform veterinary rounds as scheduled
  • Provide clinical care and preventive medicine support
  • Perform pre-shipment physical examinations of animals
  • Oversee the Environmental Enhancement program for NHPs
  • Ensure that internal and external reports and other materials are prepared and submitted as required
  • Provide responses to internal/external inspections and quality audits of veterinary or animal welfare type content
Requirements:

Veterinary degree (D.V.M./V.M.D.) required

Minimum of 6 years veterinary experience in an NHP environment

Two years supervisory/ management experience preferred

Licensure to practice veterinary medicine in at least one U.S. state required

Ability to become licensed in Texas within 6 months

USDA accreditation or application submitted within 1 month of hire

Ability to obtain DEA license within 6 months

Current DEA license highly desired

ACLAM eligibility or accreditation is highly desired
