We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Ventura County Medical Center. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by performing various laboratory tests and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform waived and moderate complexity tests in chemistry, endocrinology, toxicology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, general immunology, and bacteriological tests.
- Collect and process blood, microbiological, and urine samples from patients.
- Prepare specimens for transportation and maintain quality control statistical data.
- Report patient test results verbally and in writing to medical and nursing staff.
- Assist in the entry of reference laboratory results and verify patient demographic information.
- Valid Medical Laboratory Technician license issued by the State of California Department of Health Services.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional high pressure or emergent situations.
- Frequent exposure to body fluids, infectious specimens, and other conditions common to the clinical laboratory.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
This position requires frequent standing, walking, grasping, carrying, and speaking. You will also be required to work at two different hospital campuses when necessary: Ventura County Medical Center and Santa Paula Hospital.
