Job Summary

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking a highly skilled Paint Engineer to join our Materials Development Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing new paint technologies and supporting North and South American production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Validate paint technologies and production materials for newly launching vehicles, including patent submissions and R&D projects.
  • Implement new paint colors for North and South American production, collaborating with Hyundai and Kia Design studios, Purchasing and Manufacturing divisions, and Hyundai R&D center in South Korea.
  • Audit quality of current production coatings and participate in vehicle quality teardowns and evaluations.
  • Support Hyundai Motor Group and North/South American manufacturing locations with quality issues relating to paint, e-coat, and wax.
  • Conduct laboratory testing of materials to evaluate material performance and direct lab technicians on testing, analyze results, and report findings to Management.
  • Benchmark industry activities and report results to appropriate departments.
  • Improve the quality of current Hyundai and Kia painted production parts.
  • Assist in planning and monitoring of department budgets.
  • Create and present technical reports as assigned.
  • Perform administrative functions such as purchasing requests, vacation requests, travel requests, etc.
  • Perform additional projects as assigned.
  • Travel up to 20% of time domestically and internationally.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Coating Technology, Polymer Science, or other relevant fields
  • 0-2 years of experience in materials, coatings, or paint engineering
  • Valid Driver's License and Satisfactory Driving Record
  • Candidates applying for positions with Hyundai Kia must be legally authorized to work in the United States
