Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Animal Care Specialist/Kennel Technician to join our team at Wag'n World. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our canine guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and Supervise Canine Guests: Consistently and thoroughly monitor dogs in the group, scanning the room/yard for any signs of concern.
  • Separate Aggressive Dogs: Promptly separate dogs if play becomes too rough, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
  • Maintain Cleanliness: Pick up waste and dispose of it in designated areas, maintaining clean play areas and adhering to high standards of hygiene.
  • Report Incidents: Utilize time-outs/rotations and report them to Management, keeping them informed of any incidents or concerns.
  • Communicate Effectively: Inform incoming staff of behaviors, time-outs, incidents, general health, and other important information.
  • Clean Kennels: Clean overnight kennels and transfer belongings into appropriate bins, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for our canine guests.
  • Manage Rotations: Keep up with rotations between groups, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for all.
  • Follow Company Policies: Adhere to all company policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and respectful work environment.
Essential Functions
  • Work in a Fast-Paced Environment: Ability to work in a noisy environment for long periods of time, maintaining focus and attention to detail.
  • Work in Messy Environments: Ability to work in environments with fur, dog dander, feces, vomit, and other animal expressions, maintaining a clean and safe workspace.
  • Be Alert and Attentive: Ability to be alert and pay attention to detail for long periods of time, ensuring the safety and well-being of our canine guests.
  • Lift and Carry: Ability to lift and carry 45 lbs, maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Function in High Stress Situations: Ability to function in high stress situations, remaining calm and composed under pressure.
  • Climb and Bend: Ability to climb on step stools/ladders and bend, reach, twist, stretch, pull, and crawl, maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Work with Cleaning Products: Ability to work with various cleaning products, including chemicals, maintaining a safe and clean workspace.
  • Interact with Staff and Dogs: Ability to interact kindly and respectfully with all staff and dogs, maintaining a positive and safe work environment.
  • Follow Safety Protocol: Ability to follow basic and complex instructions, adhering to safety protocol and company policies.
  • Understand Animal Risks: Ability to understand the risks involved when working with animals, maintaining a safe and respectful work environment.
  • Communicate Effectively: Ability to communicate effectively in English for operational purposes, maintaining clear and concise communication.
