MRI Imaging Specialist

The MRI Technologist is responsible for daily modality operations. They perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) according to established protocols and work closely under the direction of the Radiologist and other physicians. The MRI Tech is responsible for confirming the quality and accuracy of all pertinent patient and procedural information, proper MRI pulse sequences and scan parameters according to established protocols. They contribute to the training and education of new staff and assist in oversight of MRI students. The MRI Technologist provides direct patient care and instructions before, during, and after procedure. They perform IV injections and administer magnetic contrast agents specific to procedure. Additionally, they troubleshoot equipment during malfunction in absence of service engineer and report malfunction to radiology maintenance/supervisor.
Essential Functions:
Knowledge in workflows, procedures, operation, and processes of the MRI imaging modalities. Applies principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others. Provides direct patient care and instructions before, during, and after procedure. Performs IV injections and administers magnetic contrast agents specific to procedure. Troubleshoots equipment during malfunction in absence of service engineer and reports malfunction to radiology maintenance/supervisor.
Education:
Associate's from an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) accredited institute (preferred).
Licensure/Certification:
Certification and Registration with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Diagnostic Radiology with Advanced MRI Registry (MR) (required, or must within one year of hire). Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, required prior to direct patient care).
