Job Title: Behavioral Support Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Behavioral Support Assistant to join our team at Spring Creek Elementary. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in providing teaching assistance under the direction of licensed teachers in classrooms or as otherwise needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers in classroom or other educational settings, overseeing, monitoring, or conducting classes during the temporary absence of teachers.
  • Implement strong behavior programs, plans, and strategies that are appropriate for young learners, utilizing the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) and Response to Intervention Behavior (RTI2-B).
  • Support the tiered response system of MTSS and connect Social Emotional Learning (SEL) support and SPED resources, 504 where needed.
  • Provide tutoring or one-on-one assistance to students in basic educational skills, utilizing instructional programs and assisting with the development of lesson plans.
  • Assist in maintaining order in the classroom and administering discipline when necessary to achieve proper behavior, managing student conduct and disciplinary issues in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor students in cafeteria, auditorium, halls, bus zones, or other common areas, organizing groups of students upon arrival/departure, seating students in appropriate areas, and assisting in cleaning tables or spills.
  • Communicate with supervisor, employees, other departments, school officials, teachers, students, parents, vendors, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic technology skills required.
  • General office/clerical experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must possess one of the following before reporting to work: semester hours or 72 quarter hours; (2) An Associate's degree or higher; (3) passing score on PRAXIS for Parapro Exam.
  • One year of experience working with children preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish required for educational assistant in ESOL program.
Compensation:

Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.
