Position Summary
The Engineering Technician utilizes technical skills to support production, maintenance, and engineering teams in enhancing processes, diagnosing issues, performing repairs, executing installations, conducting root cause analyses, and implementing projects. This role requires a high level of independence in managing complex machinery and systems with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Duties
- Execute maintenance tasks, continuous improvement initiatives, and project assignments.
- Provide electrical, mechanical, and technical assistance to promote safe and efficient production.
- Diagnose, repair, and replace machinery and equipment based on work orders or verbal instructions.
- Support troubleshooting efforts and root cause investigations. Perform tasks typical of Maintenance Technicians.
- Identify the causes of equipment malfunctions and carry out repairs across all plant equipment, including but not limited to: blanchers, rinsers, fillers, briners, cappers, pasteurizers, labelers, tamper banders, case packers, case erectors, wrappers, palletizers, de-palletizers, vibrators, cutters, graders, conveyors, coding equipment, flow meters, pumps, and lubricators.
- Replace motors, pumps, drives, PLCs, instrumentation, valves, electrical switches, wiring, and other components as necessary.
- Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to receive work orders, identify faulty equipment, and procure necessary parts for repairs.
- Develop, modify, and interpret programs to support engineering and maintenance projects.
- Create and maintain documentation for all work-related activities.
- Assist with various engineering and maintenance projects as required.
- Keep accurate computerized and paper records of relevant information.
- Facilitate communication between Maintenance, Engineering, and other departments.
- Ensure the work area is maintained in a safe and sanitary condition, adhering to established safety protocols and company policies.
- Apply knowledge of equipment capabilities, application techniques, and design limitations in executing job tasks.
Additional Responsibilities
- Operate personal or company vehicles as needed for job tasks.
- Participate in training sessions, employee meetings, committees, and project teams as necessary.
- Receive and execute written and verbal instructions related to job tasks and perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications
- Technical Associate's degree or equivalent training or experience.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in high-volume process manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of PLCs, drives, controls, industrial instrumentation, HMI/OITs, vision systems, schematics, P&IDs, robotic systems, and industrial sensors.
- Background in industrial electrical systems and equipment is essential.
- Basic understanding of software and programming principles.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Valid driver's license is required.
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English is mandatory.
Supervisory Role
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
Equipment Utilized
Personal computer, PLCs, drives, PID/setpoint controls, industrial instrumentation, HMI/OITs, vision systems, industrial sensors, copier, fax machine, telephone, and two-way radio.
Physical Requirements
The role involves various physical activities, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, and hearing. The worker may need to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and perform repetitive motions with hands and wrists.
Work Environment
Most work is conducted in an office setting, with some tasks requiring plant and outdoor conditions based on the nature of the work.
