Position Overview:
Tjader & Highstrom Utility Services, LLC is seeking a skilled Directional Drill Bore Operator to join our team for various projects. The role involves performing essential labor tasks related to telecommunications infrastructure as assigned by the Foreman/Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in all aspects of underground construction, including but not limited to: loading, driving, delivery, excavation, removal, and installation of diverse construction materials and equipment.
- Utilize hand tools and mechanical equipment for digging tasks.
- Install and maintain underground telecommunications cabling systems.
- Safely operate heavy machinery and navigate around it.
- Work effectively in both congested and remote environments.
- Ensure clear communication with crew members and maintain visual contact with all moving or stationary personnel and vehicles to promote safety.
- Execute general construction duties under the guidance of the Foreman/Supervisor.
- Conduct flagging and assist in property or worksite restoration.
- Adhere to safety regulations and maintain safe working conditions at all times.
Qualifications:
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
- Basic knowledge and capability to operate various utility trucks and equipment safely.
- Familiarity with hand tools and equipment usage in a safe manner.
- Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License is required.
- Effective communication skills with customers and team members.
- Regular and punctual attendance is essential for this role.
- Capability to perform the required duties for a minimum of 8 hours per day, 5 days a week, with potential overtime.
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, and use hands and fingers for handling tasks, as well as reaching in various directions.
- Must be able to work while wearing safety gear, including boots, glasses, and hard hats.
- Ability to endure adverse weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and inclement weather.
- Exposure to dust, fumes, and other airborne substances may occur.
- Must be capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs regularly, with or without assistance.
