Your Responsibilities

Under general supervision, the Clinical Research Nurse provides professional nursing care to research participants of all ages. This role involves collaborating with the investigator (physician), study team members, and families to ensure participant safety and comfort. The nurse will assess the nursing needs of participants and families while adhering to physician directives. Responsibilities include performing established nursing interventions such as phlebotomy, IV insertion, infusion management, subcutaneous injections, EKGs, and other research-related procedures, all while ensuring compliance with protocol guidelines and research objectives.

This position is Per Diem, offering essential support to the research department to supplement full-time staff coverage.

Qualifications for Success
  • Understanding of basic infection control principles.
  • Bilingual Spanish proficiency for effective communication with patients and families.
  • Willingness to be trained in specialized medical equipment and procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficient in pediatric and adult phlebotomy and IV techniques.
  • Possess the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities for successful performance of duties.
  • Ability to provide basic patient education based on established teaching principles.
  • Skills to accurately assess patient conditions and recognize signs requiring immediate attention.
  • Capability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across diverse populations.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of physical, social, psychological, and nursing sciences.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills relevant to the role.
  • Ability to maintain an appropriate work pace relative to workload.
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision required and flexibility to adapt to changing research priorities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Possession of the legal requirements to practice as a Registered Nurse as determined by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
