Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Dental Hygiene Specialist to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a key member of our Department of Dentistry, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional oral health care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Conducts mandated EPSDT dental screenings for children up to the age of twenty-one, provides dental education, and offers complimentary educational materials.
  • High-Risk Patients: Expedites prompt dental treatment appointments for patients identified as being at high risk, with a focus on providing immediate assessment, intervention, and coordination of care.
  • Therapeutic Hygiene Services: Provides preventive and prophylaxis care, periodontal scaling and root planing, and accurately reviews medical and dental history.
  • Education and Outreach: Develops and presents educational programs to patients, staff, and the community, and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Maintains a collaborative work relationship with peers and colleagues, and communicates effectively in a calm and professional manner.
Requirements
  • Education: Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Dental Hygiene, with a Connecticut State License required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a multi-faceted clinical or general practice position, with special needs experience essential.
  • Licensure: Dental Hygienist Licensure in the State of Connecticut and Basic Life Support Certification, with the ability to administer Local anesthesia through CT DPH standards preferred.

As a Dental Hygiene Specialist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive oral care and dental hygiene as a professional and contributing team member. You will meet productivity standards set by the department and consistently demonstrate the values of integrity, patient-centered care, respect, accountability, and compassion.
