Dental Care Professional

The Dental Assistant plays a vital role in the delivery of quality dental care at Cornell Scott Hill Health Corporation. Under the supervision of the Director of Dental, the Dental Assistant will assist the dentist and hygienist in providing clinical dental health care to patients. This includes escorting patients to and from the reception area, reassuring fearful patients with warmth and confidence, and maintaining supplies, storage, and sterilization of instruments.
Responsibilities:- Provides reasonable and prudent dental care for CS-HHC patients, treating them respectfully, courteously, and appropriately.
- Participates in clinical dental health care, assisting the dentist and hygienist at the chair.
- Responsible for the general care of equipment and ensuring instruments are kept sharp and sterilized.
- Provides patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures.
- Teaches patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health.
- Takes impressions of patients' teeth for study casts.
- Maintains functional systems of dental charts/lab slips and assures confidentiality of individual records.
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Certificate from an accredited Dental Assisting Program required.
- Certificate in Dental Radiology also required.
- Previous Dental Assisting experience preferred.
- Excellent technical and interpersonal skills required.
- Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and communicate warmth and confidence to patients.
- Interest in preventive dentistry, social consciousness, and sensitivity to the needs of community residents.
