Job Title: Sales Representative

Job Summary:

MATHESON is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Sales Representative to join our team. As a Sales Representative, you will be responsible for selling products to business and industrial establishments or individuals at sales offices, stores, showrooms, or customers' places of business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compile lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, and other sources.
  • Travel throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders, or talk with customers on sales floors or by phone.
  • Display or demonstrate products, using samples or catalogs, and emphasize salable features.
  • Quote prices and credit terms and prepare sales contracts for orders obtained.
  • Estimate delivery dates to customers, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules.
  • Prepare reports of business transactions and keep expense accounts.
  • Work with inside sales and route sales representatives to keep account activities and literature up to date.
  • Coordinate customer training.
  • Enter new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer databases.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with purchasing contacts.
  • Investigate and resolve customer problems with welding processes, equipment, and deliveries.
  • Attend trade shows.
  • Perform inside sales when needed.
  • Assist with semi-annual inventories.
  • Assist coworkers and customers with technical welding questions.
  • Assist in collecting outstanding account balances.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in Welding Technology or related field from a two-year college or technical school.
  • Six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Hazardous materials training and certification.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, clients, vendors, managers, or employees of an organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume.

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid Driver's License.

Hazardous materials training and certification.
