Ukrainian Linguist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Ukrainian linguist to join our team at KACE. As a Ukrainian linguist, you will play a critical role in performing real-time transcriptions of sensitive material from Ukrainian to English, collecting, analyzing, identifying, and decoding colloquialisms and slang terms, and extracting pertinent information to communicate to law enforcement agents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Listen to oral intercepts/audio recordings in Ukrainian and provide verbal and written synopsis and transcripts.
  • Relate all pertinent information to the client.
  • Contribute to a master-list of slang words and codes used by a particular group/organization for the duration of the project/case.
  • Maintain a voice library for the duration of the project.
  • Transcribe and translate pertinent calls assigned by their supervisor.
  • Produce court-ready transcriptions of pertinent calls following the required format.
  • Operate specialized software equipment provided by the government to include JSI voice box, Pen-link, Comverse, and other communication collection equipment used at their assigned site.
  • Maintain daily log of productivity.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and three years' experience in a professional setting, or an associate degree and five years' experience, or a high school diploma and seven years' experience.
  • Minimum of one year of transcription experience in the required language.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  • Knowledge of source language colloquial terms and expressions.
  • Knowledgeable in SMS language, social media, and Webchat.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written skills in the target language, including correct and accurate grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Must be able to meet contract requirements and pass a third-party language assessment.
Working Conditions:

Employees will be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Employees supporting this contract are considered essential to the federal government and may be asked to work during emergency situations.

This position requires a security clearance and a favorable credit check. The selected candidate will be subject to a government background investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements to access classified information.
