Our team at KACE is seeking a highly skilled Japanese Linguist to perform real-time transcriptions of sensitive material from Japanese to English. The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written skills in the target language, including correct and accurate grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
Key Responsibilities- Listen to oral and written intercepts or pre-recorded communications in Japanese and provide verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as needed.
- Relate all pertinent information to the client when supporting a live project.
- Contribute to a master-list of slang words and codes used by a particular group/organization for the duration of the project/case.
- Transcribe and translate pertinent calls and documents as assigned by their supervisor.
- Produce court-ready transcriptions of pertinent calls, chats, and documents, following the required format.
- Bachelor's degree and three years' experience in a professional setting, or Associate degree and five years' experience, or High School Diploma and seven years' experience.
- Minimum of one year of transcription experience in the required language.
- Knowledge of source language colloquial terms and expressions.
- Knowledgeable in SMS language, social media, and Webchat.
- Excellent verbal and written skills in the target language, including correct and accurate grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Ability to meet contract requirements, including a score of 3 or better on a third-party Language Assessment (Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing) in English.
Employees will be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Employees supporting this contract are considered essential to the Federal Government and may be asked to work during emergency situations.
