We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Training Specialist to join our team at Coastal Gulf & International Inc. As a Laboratory Training Specialist, you will be responsible for training new laboratory employees on laboratory testing, company quality standards, and laboratory safety.
Key Responsibilities- Training and Development: Develop and implement technical and hands-on training programs for laboratory personnel, including methods, techniques, laboratory equipment, and required documentation.
- Training Management: Manage the training process and training documentation, ensuring that all new hires and existing employees receive comprehensive training.
- Method Qualification: Administer the new hire and ongoing training program to ensure analysts/scientists remain current and qualified to run methods by reviewing method documentation, demonstrating methods, running side by side, and observing personnel qualifying.
- Technical Support: Observe method execution to determine technique-related problems and train personnel on resolution or changes required.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in the review of SOPs for consistency with laboratory practices and ensure technical training plans for each job title are complete and current.
- Documentation: Ensure compliant documentation of all training activities according to department requirements.
- Training Material Development: Develop material for training programs, review, evaluate, and modify existing and proposed programs, and recommend and execute appropriate changes.
- Sample Analysis: Prepare, analyze, and review samples using GC, GC/MS, and HPLC instruments.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and troubleshoot all GC equipment, calibrate equipment to ensure accurate analysis according to Quality Management systems, and analyze, evaluate, and approve results of Quality Control samples.
- On-Call Support: Provide on-call support as needed for processing and troubleshooting.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related science preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of direct transferable experience working with GCs.
- Knowledge: Knowledgeable in ASTM, IP, and UOP standards relating to GC, GC/MS, and HPLC.
- Skills: Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) experience preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Required to walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms, and to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or twist body to fit and/or reach, and be able to work in the presence of odors typical of petroleum or petrochemicals without allergic reactions or nausea.
