Job Summary

The Mechanical Systems Designer will design mechanical systems, components, or assemblies using engineering principles. This role will work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to create unique high-level concepts and designs for assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop innovative design solutions.
  • Conduct field surveys to identify existing equipment types and system capabilities.
  • Produce design documents, including drawings, system flow diagrams, and architecture.
  • Deliver designs according to strict project deadlines.
  • Contribute to the creative process and department.
  • Handle complex issues and problems, referring only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to team members.
  • Provide training to designer-level staff on basic design principles and standards.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An Associate degree in HVAC Technology, Building Systems Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 4-6 years of design experience.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Vision and creativity.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Planning skills.
  • Possesses working knowledge of the subject matter.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • A Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree.
  • Building Automation System design and sequence writing experience, preferably with Siemens, JCI, Honeywell, Trane, Struxureware, and Tridium systems.
  • HVAC Design and Commissioning experience, preferably with Chilled Water, Heating Water, Condenser Water, and Steam systems.
  • Higher Education and Healthcare design experience.
Travel Requirements

This role will require 10-25% travel to job sites and office locations.Physical/Work Environment Requirements

This role will require:

  • Climbing stairs.
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.

This role will be performed in a variety of environments, including:

  • Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
  • Noisy environments.
  • Quiet environments.
  • Small and/or enclosed spaces.

This role will require light work, including adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds.
