Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our team at ProCare Therapy. As a TVI, you will play a critical role in assessing and addressing the needs of students with visual impairments, developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), and providing instruction in Braille, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Program Development: Assess the needs of students with visual impairments and develop individualized education programs (IEPs) to meet their unique needs.
  • Instruction and Support: Provide instruction in Braille, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility skills to students with visual impairments.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with teachers and staff to modify curriculum and provide accommodations for students with visual impairments.
  • Progress Monitoring and Adjustment: Monitor student progress and adjust strategies as needed to ensure students are meeting their educational goals.
  • Training and Support: Train and support school staff and parents on best practices for working with students with visual impairments.
Qualifications
  • Education and Certification: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education (Visual Impairments) and valid WA State teaching certification with TVI endorsement.
  • Experience and Skills: Experience working with students with visual impairments, proficiency in Braille and assistive technology, and strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Orientation and Mobility Training: Experience with orientation and mobility training.
  • Best Practices in Visual Impairments Education: Knowledge of best practices in visual impairments education.
