We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Staff Pathologist to join our team at the VA Pittsburgh Medical Center. As a key member of our Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service, you will be responsible for performing surgical pathology gross, microscopic, and final diagnosis rendering, as well as providing intraoperative consultation to surgical services.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background and recent experience in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, with a preference for those with subspecialty training in gastrointestinal pathology, genitourinary/renal pathology, and ENT pathology. You will also be eligible for an academic appointment with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Performing surgical pathology gross, microscopic, and final diagnosis rendering
  • Providing intraoperative consultation to surgical services
  • Performing fine needle aspiration biopsies and providing diagnoses in rapid onsite evaluation
  • Participating in prospective peer review and retrospective review of 10% cases when needed
  • Performing review and interpretation of serum and urine protein electrophoresis
  • Additional responsibilities may include oversight of a section of the laboratory, providing clinical consultation services, and oversight of the QA/QI of the department

Work Schedule: Tour of duty is standard daylight hours, Monday through Friday; however, weekend and evening hours may occur when Veteran needs arise.
