Job Summary

Ascension Saint Thomas is seeking a skilled Paramedic to join our Emergency Medical Services team. As a Paramedic, you will provide advanced life support treatment, care, and evaluation of patients in emergency situations. You will work collaboratively with physicians and registered nurses to identify, intervene, and stabilize patients. This role requires a strong commitment to delivering compassionate, personalized care to all patients, with a focus on those living in poverty and those most vulnerable.

Responsibilities

* Provide basic and advanced life support treatment, care, and evaluation of patients in emergency situations.
* Work collaboratively with physicians and registered nurses to identify, intervene, and stabilize patients.
* Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols.
* Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition and treatment, as appropriate.
* Provide population-specific education to patients and families about their illness and therapeutic interventions.
* Inspect, maintain, and care for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients, and public.

Requirements

* Advanced Life Support certification obtained within 6 months of hire date or job transfer date required.
* BLS Provider certification obtained within 1 month of hire date or job transfer date required.
* Licensed Paramedic credentialed from the Tennessee Emergency Medical Services Division obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
* High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience or Associate's degree/Technical degree or 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
