Chief Accounting Officer

Seton Education Partners is in search of a Chief Accounting Officer who will be instrumental in upholding and enhancing the financial accuracy of our educational institutions. The successful candidate will possess a robust accounting background, experience in supervising outsourced teams, and a dedication to educational excellence.

Founded in 2009, Seton Education Partners addresses the significant decline of urban Catholic schools, which have historically served as a vital equalizing force for economically disadvantaged children and families across America. As a national non-profit organization, Seton collaborates with (arch)dioceses and various partners nationwide to implement innovative and sustainable educational models that merge the rich traditions of Catholic education with modern possibilities. We believe in revitalizing urban Catholic schools to enhance the educational experience for thousands of children in America’s most underserved neighborhoods.

Role Responsibilities

The Chief Accounting Officer will oversee all accounting functions, systems, and record-keeping processes. This role will manage an outsourced accounting team, ensuring the precision and promptness of all financial records and systems.

Main Duties
  • Accounting Oversight: Review and implement accounting procedures to align with GAAP standards and best practices. Develop and enforce internal controls to protect the organization’s financial assets.
  • Team Management: Coordinate with the outsourced accounting team to ensure compliance with financial systems and accurate transaction recording.
  • Systems Management: Collaborate with finance personnel to maintain financial systems, troubleshoot issues, and provide necessary training.
  • Financial Reporting: Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, preparing and presenting reports to stakeholders.
  • Compliance: Facilitate the annual audit process and ensure compliance with all financial regulations and deadlines.
Qualifications

  • Experience in accounting, preferably in not-for-profit or educational settings, with a Bachelor’s Degree and CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems, with strong analytical and communication skills.
