Police Officer Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team at the City of Los Altos Police Department. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting the community, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
Key Responsibilities- Patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect crime, and to enforce laws and regulations.
- Respond to emergency calls and provide assistance to the public.
- Conduct investigations and gather evidence to solve crimes.
- Interview witnesses and suspects, and prepare reports on investigations.
- Participate in community policing initiatives and build relationships with the public.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien who is eligible and has applied for citizenship.
- Must be able to successfully complete a 1.5 mile run in 14 minutes or fewer.
- Must possess a valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Must possess a certificate of completion or diploma from a POST-approved Police Academy.
- Must provide verification of the following test results: POST Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB) with a T-score of 47 or higher, and California POST physical agility test (known as the Work Sample Test Battery (WSTB)) with a score of 320 or higher.
The Police Officer position requires working in a fast-paced environment, often under stressful conditions. The officer must be able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The officer must also be able to lift and carry equipment and supplies, and must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
