Position Overview

AECOM is looking for a Junior Environmental Consultant to support various project tasks, including data management, site assessments, and remediation efforts.

The selected candidate will engage in collecting and analyzing geological, hydrogeological, and geochemical data in both field and office environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field activities such as soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air, and soil vapor sampling, geological logging, and interpretation.
  • Oversee subcontractors, including laboratories and drilling companies, during field operations.
  • Prepare investigation reports and collaborate with project teams, including AECOM staff and subcontractors.
  • Exhibit flexibility to work on a variety of projects while maintaining a positive attitude and commitment to health and safety.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Biology, or Environmental Science.
  • U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to the nature of the work.
  • A valid U.S. Driver's License is essential for site visits and meetings.
  • Successful candidates must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review and a substance abuse test as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in site characterizations, subsurface investigations, and remediation projects.
  • Ability to assist in developing conceptual site models.
  • Proficient in collecting and interpreting environmental data.
  • Strong technical report writing skills and experience in contractor oversight.
  • Familiarity with hazard recognition during environmental investigations.
  • Competent in using basic computer programs and the MS Office suite.

Additional Information

Relocation assistance and per diem are not available for this position. Expect daily travel to job sites, with overnight stays required for a significant portion of the work. Selected candidates will undergo HAZWOPER training and receive First Aid/CPR training upon hire.
