About the Role

The General Counsel is a critical leadership position at PSI Services, responsible for providing strategic legal guidance to the organization. This role requires a highly qualified and experienced legal expert who can manage the Legal and Compliance teams and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement legal strategies that align with the company's business objectives
  • Provide proactive legal advice and guidance on a wide range of issues, including contracts, intellectual property, employment law, and regulatory compliance
  • Identify and assess legal risks associated with business activities and provide solutions to mitigate such risks
  • Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and review of contracts to ensure they meet legal requirements and align with the company's goals
  • Collaborate with global colleagues to streamline contract processes and enhance efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance requirements and maintain accurate records of corporate activities
  • Advise the PSI Executive team on governance best practices
  • Stay current on relevant laws and regulations affecting the testing, licensure, and certification industry
  • Develop and implement compliance programs to ensure adherence to applicable laws and industry standards
  • Manage external legal resources and represent the company in legal proceedings as required
  • Work to resolve disputes through negotiation, mediation, or litigation as appropriate
  • Build a high-performing legal, security, and compliance team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for legal team members
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a top-tier accredited law school and active admission to a US State Bar, ideally in California or New York
  • Previous experience in a large law firm and/or corporation
  • Extensive experience in corporate law, contracts, regulatory compliance, privacy (domestic and international), Artificial Intelligence, and ideally with a track record in M&A
  • Proven leadership experience within a Legal department, ideally in SaaS environments
  • Experience managing an international legal department and interacting with international clients
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of an organization
