Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at Conroe Independent School District. As a Licensed Vocational Nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care to students in accordance with established school health protocols and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to students, utilizing competent nursing skills and established school health protocols.
  • Initiate emergency care when necessary, and provide a safe environment for students.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, analyzing situations accurately and taking effective action.
  • Notify parents of accidents or illnesses, and secure medical care for students in emergency cases.
  • Administer and document medications according to district policy and procedure.
  • Perform screening procedures as required by the Texas Department of Health, Texas Education Agency, and district policy.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student health care, as specified by district policy.
  • Participate in assessment and reporting of suspected child abuse.
  • Communicate with principal, health services coordinator, school counselor, teachers, parents, and other staff regarding health services issues.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, and parents.
Requirements
  • Two years of nursing experience.
  • Registered LVN-LPN with current Texas License.
  • CPR/AED Certification.
  • Certified by the Texas Department of Health to conduct vision, hearing, and scoliosis screening (obtain within 60 days).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of First Aid Skills.
  • Knowledge of health appraisal to identify student health defects.
  • Safe medication administration and documentation.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work with children of all ages with various health conditions.
  • Ability to implement policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of modern nursing health procedures and practices, including diabetes care, gastrostomy feeding, bladder catheterization, and tracheotomy care.
Working Conditions

Maintain emotional control under stress. Exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases. May be required to lift, push, or position students with physical needs, up to 50 lbs. Districtwide travel required.
