Job Summary

As a Licensed Practical Nurse at Owensboro Health, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care under the guidance of a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or physician. Your primary responsibility will be to contribute to the assessment of patients by collecting data for review and administering medications as prescribed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, collecting relevant data for review and analysis.
  • Administer medications and monitor patients for adverse reactions, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Evaluate patient learning needs and provide education based on age, culture, and willingness to learn, promoting informed decision-making.
  • Perform job duties in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, upholding the highest standards of care.
  • Triangulate patient information, referring to physicians, nurse practitioners, or physician assistants as needed, ensuring seamless care coordination.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providing clear information and addressing their concerns.
  • Carry out orders from physicians, nurse practitioners, or physician assistants, prioritizing patient needs and ensuring timely interventions.
  • Support administrative and clerical duties within the clinical department, maintaining a high level of organization and efficiency.
  • Develop and implement plan of care interventions, working collaboratively with the healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required upon hire.
  • No prior experience necessary, but a strong desire to learn and grow in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • LPN licensure in the state of Kentucky required upon hire.
  • BLS certification as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 45 days of employment.
