Position Overview
The Pharmacist plays a crucial role in delivering patient care through direct operational and clinical services. Collaboration within the pharmacy department is essential to enhance both operational efficiency and clinical programs. Participation in departmental committees and educational initiatives is expected. This role requires flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed. The balance between operational duties and clinical services will be determined by staffing levels and the overall workload of the pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures precise medication order-entry, drug distribution, and patient care, confirming the suitability of drug therapies across various patient demographics, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Aims to reduce turnaround times for products and services. - 55%
- Delivers clear, relevant, and timely responses to inquiries regarding drug information. - 10%
- Oversees pharmacy support staff, verifying the accuracy of their tasks. May also act as a lead pharmacist to manage workload and workflow. - 10%
- Conducts lab reviews, provides clinical services, patient education, and maintains documentation through departmental clinical initiatives. - 15%
- Facilitates experiential education and training for pharmacy technicians, students, and new hires. - 5%
- Represents the pharmacy department in collaborative efforts to integrate pharmaceutical care throughout the continuum of patient care. - 5%
Management Responsibilities
This position does not involve management duties and reports to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Qualifications
Must possess a Bachelor's Degree - BS or PharmD degree.
Licensure Requirements
Must hold a valid South Carolina Pharmacist License.
Alternative Qualifications
If lacking an active SC Pharmacist license, candidates may be graduates of an ACPE accredited US college of Pharmacy with a pending SC intern certificate or have completed reciprocity requirements pending a board of pharmacy interview for licensure.
Team members in this role prior to a specified date are exempt from previous educational and experience requirements. Additionally, team members must be eligible for certification and will have a designated timeframe to obtain the necessary certification.
